Eminem Grabs More than 60 Million Facebook Likes

As of today, Eminem is positioned at the top of the totem pole when it comes to the most Facebook Likes. Born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, the successful rapper, record producer, songwriter who is also known by his alter ego Slim Shady, has reached over 60 million Likes as of today. This is the most Likes for any living person, including stars like Rihanna and Lady Gaga who also have a massive throng of followers in the social media arena.

Eminem, whose posts on Facebook usually are links to his own music and interviews, seems to be doing all of the right stuff when it comes to gathering followers. Although Eminem does not typically make comments on his page, he still manages to snatch at least 26,000 Likes per day (compare that to Rihanna who typically nabs about 22,000 Likes per day).

These recent mind-blowing statistics regarding Eminem and his whopping following bring to my mind some questions about what it is exactly that makes one Facebook page more alluring than another. If you’re wondering the same, you may be interested to read about some of the best ways I’ve researched for grabbing the most Likes, shares and comments on your page:

  • Photos. Without a doubt, good snapshots are the #1 way to encourage interaction with your page.
  • Speak in the first-person point of view. Research has shown that using self-referential words such as “I” and “me: actually rein in more attention – which is ironic, since that same tactic tends to deter people when it comes to Twitter.
  • Timing is key. Did you know that status updates posted on the weekends are more likely to be viewed than those posted during the week? It’s true – in fact, there are a whole slew of findings when it comes to the best and worst times to share on both Facebook and Twitter, as reported here.

Take a look at this infograph, courtesy of Dan Zarrella of Hubspot.com for hints on gathering the most attention when it comes to your Facebook and Twitter posts.

I doubt Eminem follows infograph stats when it comes to building his following – his numbers most likely have more to do with the fact that he is an uber-famous rap star – but for us “little people” looking to boost our popularity, it’s worth giving some of these tactics a shot!
