Useful Tips How to Save a Wet Cell Phone

If you ever spilled water on your phone or dropped it in the toilet, don’t panic. There are ways to save your phone, and bring it back to life.

Here are a few home remedies that can save your smart phone:

First of all remove the battery, remove all of the accessories attached to your phone such as memory cards, sim card and your protective case. Quickly gather some paper towels or soft cloths to absorb as much water as possible. Even one drop of water left inside the phone, can ruin the phone.

USE UNCOOKED RICE: The best way to revive your phone is to bury it in uncooked rice. Generally rice absorbs moisture and will absorb the water within your phone. Leave the phone buried in rice for 24-48 hours.


FREEZE THE PHONE TO FIX: Place the phone on two layers of paper towel to prevent frost damage, make sure battery is removed. Put the phone in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes. Power up your phone and check if it works, if not place it back in the freezer for another 5-10 minutes. Chances are you might have a working phone after a couple of tries.

SILICA GEL PACKS: You can also use silica gel packs, if you have them around. Place your phone in the container and cover it with silica gel packs.

DO NOT USE HAIR DRYER: The hair dryer might force moisture further inside and damage electrical components of the phone. Avoid using heat to dry your phone; it could melt internal components.
