Consumer Priority Service reviews the New Asus Transformer Prime Tablet

The Asus Transformer Prime is hands-down one of the most excellent tablets on the market. The Android tab sports evident iPad 2 influences with a slimmer, lighter body and extras like a microSD and Micro-HDMI support, and an 8-mega pixel camera that may be the best on any other tablet on the market today. Not to mention, the device is sugar-coated with the new Ice Cream Sandwich – bringing it strides ahead of the horde of Honeycombs swarming the shelves today.

For starters, the Prime is sexy. It’s offered in two colors: chic amethyst (lavendar-grey-ish) and elegant champagne (gold and silver). It’s about an inch wider than the second-generation iPad and even more waifish than the prominently-thin Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Prime is a bit more hefty; however the extra weight is evenly distributed making her, shall we say – pleasantly plump?

She dons a sloped back and smooth, rounded corners that feel cozy in-hand, and for connections, the Prime features a microSD slot and a Micro-HDMI port on her left alongside a volume rocker and microphone portal, and on her right: a headphone jack. The amazing camera has its home on the gadget’s front bezel. For those who dig options, the Prime can be connected to a keyboard/dock which can be purchased as an extra.

Let’s talk Prime power: this tablet is the first to feature Nvidia’s revolutionary quad-core processor, the Tegra 3 – and it comes with 1GB of RAM (choose from either 32GB or 64GB) as well as 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a gyroscope and GPS. Add all of those elements together, and you get one amazing Android.

Inside, the Prime is pre-loaded with Ice Cream Sandwich. Also, Asus MyCloud provides users with 8GB of free cloud storage, File Manager accesses the tablets root directory allowing for easy organization of files, MyNet permits you to stream video content to DLNA-enabled devices, and MyLibrary allows you to obtain e-books right via the interface.

All in all, the Prime is recommended…and with a capital “R”. Its super power, alluring look and fancy features give it a definite great okay-to-go in the Android world.
